Located in the heart of the South West, Natasha Lay is a creative designer and weaver committed to creating beautiful and unique wall hangings inspired by the untouched raw beauty of the Australian Outback. Her prime provider of these materials - mother earth. Tash uses natural fibres, feathers and wood from all over Australia, giving her handiwork a soulful and earthy impression.

Luckily for us, Tash is hosting a three hour workshop at Maker + Co where she will be sharing the secrets to her Macrame techniques. Giving you the opportunity to create your own personalised masterpiece to hang in your home or even gift to a very special friend!

Costs:
$150 first timer
$120 second class attending
$125 each if you bring a friend

Costs include:
- 3-hour macramé class with Natasha Lay
- 1 full cone of rope approx 120m (you can take home left over rope with you)
- 1 piece of wood to work from and a full NLD macramé wall hanging design
- Feathers and glue guns if you wish to add to your wall hanging
- Your own beautiful wall hanging to take home

Lumari has over 30 years experience with singing and has directed 5 choirs and a multitude of workshops, including “Out of Africa” at BREC.

Not only will this workshop give you the opportunity to meet some amazing people, singing will also lift your heart and the soul, leaving you with a bunch of happy feelings.

One of Makers very own, Craig Holland, has held numerous NFP board positions including Chairperson and Treasurer.  Craig is the current Treasurer of South West NFP, Creative Corner and was the inaugural Chairperson for Empowering People In Communities based in Karratha.  In 2016 Craig completed a Cert IV in Governance NFP and has held workshops in Board Governance for organisations across the state.


The NFP Governance Overview workshop will provide a broad picture of governance requirements for board members of a typical NFP and will cover the requirements of the various board positions.  If you have any particular questions concerning your role on a NFP board, if you are considering joining a board or even starting a NFP this workshop will steer you in the right direction.

Karen Crutchlow and Nina Concannon of Wellness Unwrapped in conjuction with Barbara Cafagna of The Retreat Hub are pleased to present to you the Mind, Body and Spirit Wellness Expo.

The Expo (from 1pm to 4pm) will feature Health and Wellness Practitioners from the Greater Bunbury and South West region, giving you a unique opportunity to meet with these incredible people who are passionate about health and wellness. During the course of the day each of the Practitioners will the stage and offer some valuable information in a relaxed environment.

Following the Expo (from 6pm), we'll be screening HEAL, the documentary that so many people talking! HEAL not only explores the minds of some brilliant leaders in science as well as spiritual teachers, but follows three people on their own healing journeys. Through these inspiring and emotional stories we find out what works, what doesn't, and why.

We're sure the screening will have you thinking and no doubt you may have some questions. This that in mind, we hope you'll stay for the Q&A panel at the end of the documentary.

Exhibition Opening Night

Ngany Troy Bennell is the inaugural exhibition in the Six Seasons Arts Program curated by Maker + Co’s Creative Director Colette McEntee and supported by WAITOC and the City of Bunbury. The exhibition will show a series of Troy’s powerful works and give attendees the opportunity to add a signature Noongar piece to their art collection.

An acclaimed Australian artist, Troy has travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia as an artist, cultural performer, gallery curator and ambassador for tourism in Australia. He has been involved with many of the public art projects in and around Bunbury. Closest to his heart are those that celebrate and commemorate the historical and cultural contributions of the local Noongar people in the region. 

Proud of his Noongar heritage, his country and the place where he grew up, Troy has combined his passions into Ngalang Wongi Aboriginal Cultural Tours and uses his skills in tourism and story telling to promote his greatest passion... his homeland and the cultural heritage of his people.

One of Makers very own, Craig Holland, has been assisting  and running small businesses since moving to the South West in 2014. In addition to operating the creative space Maker + Co, Craig was a Business Development Advisor for Business South West. Prior to this, he worked for the state government as Director of Corporate Services for the Pilbara Institute.

The Bite Sized Business Planning session is an interactive, mini-workshop aimed at introducing you to the concept of business planning and how it might benefit your existing or potential business.

Craig will not only cover the important elements of a business plan and its purposes, but also help you recognise, build and employ the best strategy for your business at its current state.

Hand Lettering Workshop

With Valentine’s Day coming just after Christmas, what a perfect excuse to learn or diversify your own lettering style and write some special love notes for your valentine.

Join Wildfire Co. for a wonderful Valentine's Day inspired, brush lettering workshop, with a delectable spread from Feld & Co. and a glass of bubbles! 
(Please note, guests under 18 will be allowed into the event but will not be able to consume alcohol. Please notify us if you are under 18 years of age).

Perfect for beginners, this 2.5 hour workshop will cover the fundamentals of modern calligraphy - learning basic lettering skills and letter forms. Wildfire Co will also share their lettering journey, including how to digitises the works.With opportunities for one on one guidance to help you to discover your own unique style. 

Perfect for anyone with a love of typography, stationery and little handwritten notes. It is an excellent chance to meet like-minded people, feed your creative soul and learn a new skill. By the end of the workshop you will have the opportunity to prepare your own Valentine's Day card, ready to give to that special someone!

Individual materials will be supplied to each participant. All tools supplied are Wildfire Co personal favourites and you will be able to take these home to practise your new found love of hand-lettering.

Materials supplied:
* A variety of brush pens and ink
* Lettering practice sheets and paper
* Valentine's Day cards by Wildfire Co, made especially for the workshop

What to bring: Just yourself!
(Note: Taking photos during the workshop is highly encouraged, so please bring your camera phone/camera with you).

PS. All materials can be used by left and right-handers. Tara herself is left-handed and has lots of tips on how to handle tools.
